TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT
OF GLOBAL HUMAN RESOURCES BY
STIMULATING INTERNATIONAL
EDUCATIONAL EXCHANGES.

This project aims to promote high-quality educational programs in cooperation with universities in countries and regions important to Japan as student exchange expands globally. Specifically, the project will develop and implement leading international exchange programs that transcend regional differences in higher education systems, such as mutual recognition of credits, grade management, and degree conferral, and promote student exchanges in general.

WHY TARGET
EU COUNTRIES?

Considering the current state of the world, international cooperation is becoming increasingly important. EU countries and Europe play a significant role in international organizations such as the G7, with the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy constituting more than half of its members. From a national security perspective, Japan and EU countries share a common need for cooperation in educational institutions, particularly in areas related to national security such as cutting-edge fields. EU countries are renowned for their universities, which are strong in both education and research. However, the number of Japanese students studying in Europe is currently skewed toward bachelor's degree programs in the humanities.

In light of this, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) supports the development and implementation of quality-assured exchange programs in master’s programs in science fields with European universities, particularly those in EU member countries.
